Kapeke Breaks Silence on Viral Roast and Rhyme Stage Walk-Off

Dancehall star Kapeke has issued a formal apology to his fans following a tense and abrupt exit from the stage at the Roast and Rhyme festival this past Sunday. The "Kaba" hitmaker, whose real name is Derrick Nsubuga, was one of the night’s most anticipated acts, but his set ended in confusion just moments after it began.

The trouble started during his performance of the fan-favorite track "Kaba," when a significant sound glitch reportedly linked to the DJ set disrupted the flow of the show. In a move that stunned the audience, Kapeke halted the performance and walked off stage, accompanied by his dancers, management, and security detail.

The incident immediately ignited a heated debate across social media. While some critics argued that a professional of his stature should have pushed through the technical difficulties to satisfy the crowd, others rallied behind him. Supporters pointed out that poor sound quality can compromise an artist's brand and prevent them from delivering the high-quality experience fans pay for.

Breaking his silence on TikTok Monday morning, Kapeke addressed the fallout directly. "Sorry, my people, for not performing to your expectations because of bad sound. Next time, better," he shared. The singer firmly attributed the walk-off to technical failures and promised his followers a superior experience at future events.

This latest stage mishap underscores a recurring frustration within the Ugandan events industry regarding production standards. Even at major festivals like Roast and Rhyme, technical hitches continue to overshadow top-tier talent, leaving both artists and revelers disappointed.
